As a rising star in the style industry, Matthew Redden recently packed up his bags and headed to Austin to join ROAR Salon. A native Houstonian, Matthew was born with an eye for fashion, a sense of impeccable taste and a passion for theatre. Recently noted as the only hair stylist amongst Modern Luxury Magazine's "sexy seven" in Houston, Matthew is known for having clientele who range from prominent corporate executives to some of the most visible socialites in the city. As word of mouth has spread regarding his gracious, sweet nature paired with his drive for first-class results, clients are swiftly booking appointments to sit in Matthew's chair.

"A good haircut should always speak for itself – from the moment you get up out of the chair until weeks later with growth – your hair should be showing well and naturally easy to manage", says Matthew. "When I am working with a client, I'm 100% focused on them, their needs, their lifestyles and what will truly work best for them."

Fearless in embracing the different sides of his image, from Old Hollywood slicked-back hair to bohemian tousled waves, it is this effortless confidence that allows Matthew to encourage each of his clients to embrace the different possibilities for styling their own hair.

As Matthew points out, "It's about being your best in any moment, whether you're at the office or on vacation, you need to have the ability to wear your hair in various ways and be confident. I'm all about helping my clients think this through and look their very best."

After graduating from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, Matthew lived in NYC and Germany where his enthusiasm for all things fashionable continued to grow. Upon returning to Texas, he swiftly enrolled in the Paul Mitchell School for Hair in Austin while also performing at the Zach Scott Theatre. After living in Houston, honing his skills and building a loyal clientele, Matthew missed Austin and swore to return if he could find a savvy, boutique salon with city feel – ROAR was it.

When he's not assisting clients in the salon with a great cut or a blow-out for a big event, you can find Matthew spending time with friends or one of his five siblings, enjoying a yoga class, biking or cooling off with a swim at the lake.
